How does the Operator One Connect service work?
is a service for making smart, low cost international phone calls from your mobile phone.
With this service you make phone calls as you always do, but when calling your international friends you’ll be using new, local Connect phone numbers. By doing this you’ll make on these calls.
You keep your current mobile phone, phone company (service provider) and subscription and you don’t need to buy a calling card or download anything. Call credit can be added from your Visa, MasterCard, American Express or Maestro card. You can also add credit using PayPal.
No access code or PIN is needed when calling since the phone number you are calling from (and its caller ID) is used to identify you into our system.
The Connect service is available in more than 35 .
|
 |
How do I get started?
- , at no cost.
- Add your international friends and their phone numbers.
- Operator One will on the web page supply you with a local Connect phone number to each friend.
- Add as much call credit as you wish using your credit card or PayPal.
- Call directly to your friends by using these new local phone numbers.
|
 |
How much do I save?
How much you
depends on how much the phone company (service provider) you are using would
charge if these calls were made through them. However, in most cases you will
save a lot, often as much as 98%.
Example 1: You are in the USA and use the AT&T Unlimited Calling plan.
You wish to call Paris and would then normally pay international charges of
$1.49/minute. If you choose to make this call with the Operator One Connect
service instead, still using your AT&T Unlimited Calling plan, you´ll only pay
$0.03/minute, saving you more than $43 on a 30 minute call.
Example 2: You are in the UK and use a Vodafone Unlimited Landline
Calls plan. You wish to call New York and would then normally pay international
charges of £0.85/minute. With Operator One, still using your Vodafone Unlimited
Landline Calls, you pay £0.013/minute, saving over £25 on a 30 minute call.
Example 3: If you are in Sweden, use Telia Mobil Fastpris plan
and wish to call Thailand, you would normally pay international charges of SEK
22.50/min. With Operator One, still using your Telia Mobil Fastpris, you pay SEK
0.22/min, saving nearly SEK 670 on a 30 minute call.
Please note that when calling with Operator One, your current mobile phone
company will still charge you for a local call to a landline phone. This cost
should be added to the minute rates in the examples above.
|
 |

|
 |

|
 |
Do I need a Connect Plus number to use the Connect service?
No. If you would like to make cheaper and smarter phone calls to friends all over the world, is all you need.
If you for example have several friends and business contacts in Spain and would like to give them a real Madrid phone number that they can call you on, is a great service for you.
With only the friends you have added to your Operator One account can reach you on a local number. These friends all have a unique number to call you on, which means these numbers cannot be used by others.
|
 |

First of all you need to . To your account you add your international contacts and their international phone numbers. Each contact's phone number will then be associated with a new local Operator One Connect phone number for you to use to call directly to them. This new phone number is shown as soon as you have added your contact.
|
 |
What is a primary phone number?
The primary number is the phone number you will receive your incoming calls on.
The primary number also defines the phone numbers to your friends in your contacts list. If your primary number is a French number, the phone numbers to all your contacts will also be French. If you change your primary number to a UK phone number, your contacts phone numbers will change too, to UK numbers. By this your friends can always be reached on local phone numbers.
To your Operator One account you can add up to ten phone numbers that you would like to call from and receive calls to. One of these numbers has to be set as your primary.
|
 |
What does it cost?
Calls made with the Connect service will be charged with two types of costs, one for and one for the local part. However the total amount per minute will in most cases be a lot cheaper than you would normally pay for any international phone call made from a mobile phone. In most cases you will .
The local part of your call will be charged by your current mobile phone company (service provider). |
 |
What is a caller ID and how do I activate it?
Caller ID (also known as calling number identification or caller display) is a telephone service that usually is activated in a mobile phone by default. If you call someone from your mobile and your phone number is shown on the dialed up party’s display, the caller ID is activated. This means it is possible for Operator One to identify your phone number.
To call with the caller ID must be activated. The reason for this is that the phone number you are calling from is used to identify you into the system and to associate you with your account. If your mobile phone does not have caller ID activated, add *31# to the phone number you are dialing, for example *31#0035220203666. If that does not help, please contact your phone company.
|
 |
Can someone else reach my contacts on the Connect numbers I´m using?
No. The Connect phone numbers that your contacts have are associated with your own phone numbers (that you have added to your account). This means that if someone is calling these Connect phone numbers from a phone number that is not added to your account, the call cannot be connected properly.
